28, 1932 - Dec. 19, 2009ELKHART - Alan K. "Bud" Schwalm, 77, of Elkhart passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Saturday, December 19, 2009 of natural causes. Bud was born June 28, 1932 to the late Florien and Anna (Kling) Schwalm in Kalamazoo, Michigan. On March 13, 1953, Bud married the former Ms. Donna Miller in Hawaii. Donna preceded him in death, passing away in 2004. Surviving are his children, Linda (John) Kurzhal of Mishawaka, Roxanna Schwalm of Mishawaka, and David (Karen) Schwalm Sr. of Elkhart. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the 6:00 pm Memorial Service on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Indiana. VFW Post # 360 and the Ryan Balmer American Legion Post #161 will perform Military Rites. Mr. Schwalm served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956. Bud enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and sailing. In his younger years, he volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for several years. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend. In his memory, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
