Sister Mary Alfred CSC, who worked in
the students’ laundry of the University of Notre Dame for
the last 32 years, died at 1:15 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital
in South Bend.

Funeral Services for Sister Mary Alfred
CSC, of Holy Cross Convent at Notre Dame, who died Wednesday
morning were held at 9 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Church at Notre
Dame. Burial was to be at 4:30 p.m. today in St. Mary’s
Community Cemetery.
She was born as Maria Elizabeth Schroop
in Germany in 1882 and came to the United States in 1903. She
became a Sister of the Holy Cross in 1903, making her final vows
in 1909. Since1909 she has been at the university.
