MISHAWAKA - Julia Ann Schroff, 80, of
Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday,
April 5, 2008, in Birmingham. Julia was born December 4, 1927, in
Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Carlton and Josephine (Heiser)
Burkett. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School.
On October 11, 1947, Julia married Roger
Schroff, and the couple lived in South Bend and Mishawaka.
Following Roger's death, she moved to Birmingham. Julia was
employed at the Wheelabrator Frye Corporation and the South Bend
Credit Bureau. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Mishawaka and St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend.
Julia enjoyed sewing, needlework, flower and vegetable gardening.
Julia's surviving family includes a daughter, Susan Law of
Birmingham, AL; a son, Thomas Schroff of Edwardsburg, MI; a
sister, Mary Jane Mark of South Bend; six grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was also
preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Robertson.
Julia's family will receive friends on
Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Thallemer, Goethals & Wells
Funeral Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka. Services will be
held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev.
Terry Fisher officiating. Cremation will follow and entombment
will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorials are suggested
to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the
funeral home.
