Beatrice Fay Schroeder

Beatrice Schroeder was born on February 25, 1929 to Melvin L. and Anna (Davidson) Green. On October 1, 1950 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Mishawaka, she married Kenneth Schroeder, who survives. They lived on Miami Club Drive, Mishawaka and Pinellas Park, Fla. While at home Saturday morning in Mishawaka, at the age of 73, she went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after battling cancer. She was a beloved mother of two sons and two daughters: Gregory (Andrea) Schroeder of Warsaw, Gary (Pat) Schroeder of Mishawaka, Gayle (Paul) Hayes of Columbus, Indiana, and Ginger (Steve) Paczesny of Bremen. She was grandmother to four granddaughters and five grandsons, Mandi (Keith) Flatt of South Bend, Joshua Schroeder of Warsaw, Bryan Hayes of Columbus, IN, Sarah Schroeder of Texas, Elizabeth Schroeder of Mishawaka, Brandon Hayes of Columbus, Ind., and Isaac, Alex and Megan Paczesny, all of Bremen. She is survived by two sisters and three brothers: Yeavon Nifong of Elkhart, M. Jerry (Pat) Green of Mishawaka, L. Dale (Virginia) Green of Mishawaka, Enid (Darrell) Maddock of New Concord, Ohio, and N. Dennis (Pat) Green of Osceola. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Phyllis Blevins, Antoinette Espelage, and Vera Mahank.

 

Mrs. Schroeder worked for Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation as a media specialist for 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mishawaka and attended Starkey Road Baptist Church while in Florida. Placing her trust in God she received a heart transplant on October 31, 1987. She had been active in Indiana Organ Procurement Organization in advancing and educating the public and organ recipients concerning the importance and benefits of organ transplantation. In turn she received fifteen extra years which were a blessing to her and her family.

 

Visitation is Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bubb's Funeral Chapel North. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Rev. David Miller will officiate services. A viewing will be held at the church one hour before the service. She will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Hospice of Saint Joseph County and Indiana Organ Procurement Organization.
