SOUTH BEND - Mary Brigette (Carroll) Schrantz, 83, of North Stanfield Street, died at 4:17 a.m. Saturday in Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal. Mrs. Schrantz was a former employee of the University of Notre Dame at Student Health Services. She was born Aug. 15, 1910, in Ballybane, Askeaton, Limerick, Ireland, and lived in South Bend most of her life.

On July 2, 1951, in South Bend, as Mary B. Carroll, she married Paul C. Schrantz. He died May 3, 1989. She is survived by a daughter, Dolores Tantoco-Stauder of South Bend; two sisters, Sister Rose Kathleen, O.P., of Grand Rapids and Sister M. Emelian of County Kildare, Ireland; and a brother, Michael T. Carroll of Chesterton, N.Y. She was a graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society and Nurses Alumni Association.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Basilica. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
