David A. Schrader Sr.

MISHAWAKA - An autopsy ruled out a number of natural causes in the death of David A. Schrader Sr., 39, but was inconclusive in determining a cause of death, Dr. Michael O'Connell said Saturday.

Schrader, of 501 N. Byrkit St., died at 1:38 p.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was an engineer at Madison Elementary School in South Bend and was found in his office at the school shortly after 1 p.m. Friday. O'Connell said the results of drug tests, expected back from the laboratory early this week, may shed light on the death.

Mr. Schrader was born Jan. 27, 1956, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 20, 1985, in South Bend, he married Dixie L. Adkins. She survives with two daughters, Melissa and Ashley, both at home; a son, David A. Jr. at home; his mother, Catharine Schrader of South Bend; a sister, Sherry Mckens of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and a brother, Larry W. of Edwardsburg. He attended Calvary Baptist Church, South Bend.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
