SOUTH BEND - Rosemary A. (Speeks) Schmanke, 56, of Olive Road, died at 1:40 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Care Center-West. Mrs. Schmanke was a nursing assistant at Saint Mary's Convent for 10 years. She was born Nov. 17, 1939, in Lucasville, Ohio, and lived in South Bend for 35 years.

On Dec. 19, 1992, in South Bend, as Rosemary A. (Powell) Speeks, she married Ronald A. Schmanke. He died March 29, 1994. She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Gore of South Bend; a son, Timothy Speeks of South Bend; a grandson; and brother, Lee Chaffee of South Bend. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Cremation will take place with burial in Riverview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
