Norma L. Schermerhorn

SOUTH BEND - Norma L. Schermerhorn, 71, of Indianapolis,
formerly of South Bend, passed away Wednesday in American
Village, Indianapolis. She was born on March 9, 1936, in Pulaski
County. At the age of ten she was adopted by Paul and Viola (Bradley)
Myers. Norma was preceded in death by her adopted parents;
her husband, Leonard; her sister, Carol Butler; and by her
brother, Jim Freeman.
In 1956 she married Leonard Schermerhorn. He
passed away in 1978. Norma retired in 2001 from the University of
Notre Dame where she worked in data entry. Norma is survived by
her loving family: her daughter, Luella (David) Menzer of
Indianapolis; her son, Kevin (Becky) Schermerhorn of South Bend;
five grandchildren; one brother, Daryl Dean Shreve of New
Jersey; her adopted sister, Virginia Snodgrass of
Indianapolis; three half sisters; one half brother; and her
longtime companion, Stephen Betteridge of South Bend.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m.
Saturday, January 12th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home,
17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. John Staples
officiating. Friends may visit with her family today from 4 to 8
p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland
Cemetery. In loving memory of Norma, memorial contributions may
