SOUTH BEND - Maxine Elizabeth Scherman, 90, left this
world for a better place at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008,
in Dujarie House at Holy Cross Village. She was born August 11,
1918, in South Bend, to the late William and Pauline (Mischker)
Scherman. Both parents preceded her in death. She retired as an
accountant for the University of Notre Dame and was an avid
member of her beloved University Club for many years. She was
also a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Maxine had many
diverse friends and was loved by all. She always had a kind word
and deed for all who she knew and met. No one was a stranger to
her, always making them feel important, no matter what their
background. She loved all God's children, was especially fond of
animals, and was never without an opinion of the day's events.
She had an uncanny sense of humor concerning the day's events and
had a very sharp memory. She was one in a million and will be
truly missed by all and never forgotten.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 17th, with Rev. Camillo
Tirabassi officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley
Memorial Park, Granger, IN. There will be no visitation.
Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., is assisting
with arrangements.
