SOUTH BEND - Irma M. Schelstraete, 98, of Mishawaka, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at St. Paul 's Retirement Community in South Bend of natural causes. Irma was born June 10, 1910, in Mishawaka, to the late Henry and Romaine (Fieres) Schelstraete. Irma is survived by one sister, Martha M. Rodts of Mishawaka; and one brother, Oscar Schelstraete, also of Mishawaka. Also surviving are one nephew, Dr. Thomas (Mary) Rodts of Oak Park, IL; and three nieces, Janet (Jon) Balog of South Bend, Joyce (Rick) Snidecki of Crown Point, IN, and Janet (James) Lifke of Santa Clause, IN, along with their families. Two brothers, Michael and Emiel, preceded her in death.

Private family visitation will be on Saturday July 5. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with the Rev. Henry Byekwaso officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Hahn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Way of St. Joseph County in her memory.
