Roy Scheittecatte, 66, of Arlington Drive in Osceola, Ind., passed away on Saturday, June 8, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Ind.
Roy was born on July 30, 1935, in Mishawaka, to George Joseph and Kitty Kay (Marrot) Scheittecatte, who have both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Yaw; and his sister, Martha Scheittecatte.
On Aug. 28, 1966, in South Bend, Ind., Roy married Roberta JoAnne Yoder. Roy leaves to cherish his memories his wife Roberta; his son, Devon (Darsha) Scheittecatte of Osceola; daughters, Sherry Hammel of Delaware, Ohio, and Teri (Rudy) Clark of Mishawaka; foster daughters, Margo Hook of Elkhart, Ind., and Heather Ann Guntle of Mishawaka; his brother, Charles R. (Wanda) Scheittecatte of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Joyce Yaw of Mishawaka; and by 15 grandchildren.
Roy was retired from A.M. General as a welder since 1993, was a member of U.A.W. Local 5 and attended Osceola United Methodist Church. He was a former Osceola police officer. Roy enjoyed woodworking, fishing, deer hunting, bowling, and was a stock car driver in South Bend in the 1960s.
Friends may visit at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, and funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home where Pastor Brian Beeks will be officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
