Robert J. Scheibelhut

On this day we have lost a beloved husband, loving father, and special friend. Robert J. Scheibelhut, 80, of N. Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in his residence.
Robert was born on Dec. 1, 1921, in Mishawaka, to Bernard and Candace (Mohn) Scheibelhut, who both have preceded him in death.
He was a superintendent for Schumacher and Sollitt Construction. Robert was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church where he served as an usher, was a member of American Legion Post #365 and Boys Scouts Scoutmaster Troop #515, and was a member of Local #413, South Bend, Ind., for 50 years. Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Robert married Mildred V. Trippel on Oct. 9, 1941, in Mishawaka. Mildred survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Seltzer of Mishawaka and Karen (Dennis) Culp of South Bend; four sons, James R. (Becky) of Mishawaka, Thomas R. of Mishawaka, Larry J. (Freda) of Granger, Ind., and Paul E. (Seanna) of Mishawaka; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julia Rose Milliken of Mishawaka and Betty Gilmartin of Mishawaka; two brothers, Aloy Scheibelhut of Mishawaka and Richard Scheibelhut of Victoria, Texas.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Avenue. Father William Neidhart, CSC, will officiate, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where a wake service will be at 3:30 p.m.
