SOUTH BEND - Merlin G. Schalliol, 58, of Chelsea Manor Nursing Home, Elkhart, formerly of 52655 Marks St., died at 10:10 a.m. Saturday in the nursing home after an illness.

Mr. Schalliol had been employed by Owens-Corning Corp., Mishawaka, in shipping and receiving.

He was born June 20, 1937, in Madison Township, Ind., and was a lifetime area resident.

On May 21, 1956, in South Bend, he married Bonnie I. Ernsperger. She survives with a son, David of South Bend; two grandchildren; three sisters, Beulah Strycker of Wakarusa, Mary Sommers of Elkhart and Donna Aker of Goshen; and two brothers, Donald of Elkhart and Richard of Lakeville. A daughter, Cheryl, and two sons, Ronald and Michael, preceded him in death.

There will be no services or visitation.

Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
