Esther Harriet Schalliol

MISHAWAKA – Esther H. Schalliol, 81, of New Road, Mishawaka, Ind. passed away after an illness at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, in the Bremen Health Care Center. She was born on Sept. 17, 1916 in Niles, Mich., as the daughter of the late Arthur and Hattie (Beehler) Reum.

On Nov. 30, 1939 in the parsonage of Zion United Church of Christ, Wakarusa, Ind. as Esther H. Reum she married Roger “Rod” Schalliol, who survives. She is also survived by a son Leon (Beverly) Schalliol of Wyatt, and a daughter Ann Scott of South Bend; a sister, Dorothy Neer of Wakarusa, a brother Carl Reum of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Kristi (Bruce) Ostrowski, Debra (Bruce) Schmidt, Tina Scott and Todd Scott and by four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Schalliol was a devoted homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Madison Township Homemaker’s Club and a member fo the Zion United Church of Christ, Wakarusa.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Hahn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with Revs. Duane and Christina Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Ferrisville Cemetery.
