NAPPANEE - Donald E. Schalliol, 72, 27708 C.R. 24, died at 4 a.m. Monday at LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee, where he had been a resident for five years.

He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Mishawaka, to Jesse and Rema (Ranstead) Schalliol.

On March 9, 1963, he married Malinda “Linda” Mast in Goshen. A lifelong local resident, he was a retired truck driver, previously working for Indiana Foam and other companies.

He was a member of Elkhart Jaycees, Elkhart Auxiliary Police and Goshen Moose Lodge No. 836.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Karen Shafer and Sharon Kirby, both of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beulah Strycker, Wakarusa, Mary Sommers, Elkhart, and DonnaBelle Aker, Goshen; and a brother, Richard Schalliol, Lakeville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Merlin Schalliol; and a sister, Emogene Webb.

Private services will be held at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Brian Cray of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
