BREMEN - Nancy E. Schafer, 76, of Bremen, IN, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, Mishawaka. She was born April 7, 1933, in South Bend, IN, to the late Donald and Lois E. (Barkley) Gilmer. On November 1, 1952, in Lakeville, IN, she married Paul W. Schafer, who survives. Mrs. Schafer is also survived by daughter, Donna (Andrew) Robb of Bremen, IN; two grandchildren, Adam Robb of Bremen, IN, and Amy (Ted) Church of Bremen, IN; three great-grandchildren, William, Anna and Leah; three sisters, Marilee Scott of St. John, IN, Carolyn Ort of Bremen, IN, and Jane Moore of Houston, TX; two brothers, John Gilmer of Plymouth, IN, and Kent Gilmer of South Bend, IN. Son, Tod William Schafer, preceded her in death as an infant in 1962. Mrs. Schafer was a lifelong area resident. She drove a school bus for over 25 years, driving for St. Matthew School and the South Bend Community School Corporation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville. Rev. John Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Nancy E.
