Jane Schafer

SOUTH BEND - Services for Jane (Whitehead) Schafer, 49, of Turkey Trail, who died at 4:30 a.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital after an illness, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Zion United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Mrs. Schafer was a produce clerk at Farmer Bill's Vegetable Stand until 1992. She was born April 5, 1945, in Bremen. On Aug. 15, 1964, in South Bend, as Jane W. Whitehead, she married Edward C. Schafer.

He survives with a daughter, Melissa A., at home; a son, Scott A., of Mishawaka; her parents, Phyllis and LaMar Whitehead of Syracuse; and two brothers, Lewis L. Whitehead of Bremen and Hal J. Whitehead of Albuquerque, N.M. She was a member of the church
