MISHAWAKA - John Sauer, 80, of
Chandler Boulevard, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 9:45 p.m.
Tuesday, at his residence, after an illness. Mr. Sauer was born
July 23, 1916 in South Bend.
On Feb. 2, 1943, he married Virginia Gierzynski,
who survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ginny
and Larry Mollis of Mishawaka; a daughter and son-in-law,
Peggy and Douglas Buford of Mishawaka; and a son and
daughter-in-law, John and Mary Lou Sauer of Naperville, Ill.;
three grandchildren, Douglas Buford, Jr. of Mishawaka, Amanda and
Elizabeth Sauer of Naperville, Ill.; three sisters, Helen Molner
of South Bend, Rose Horvath of Vandalia, Mich., and Tekla Matchett
of Sturgis, Mich.
Mr. Sauer was a member of Our Lady of
Hungary Catholic Church, South Bend, Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 360, a veteran of World War II Army Air Corp, and a member
of 380th Bombardment Group/Flying Circus. The family
requests contributions to the church. Services will be at 10
a.m., Friday, at Our Lady of Hungary Church. Friends may call
Hahn Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m., today. Burial will be St.
Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
