SOUTH BEND - Steven J. Satkowski, nine-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley J. Satkowski Jr., 1407 N. Iowa Street, died Tuesday afternoon in St. Joseph Hospital after a three-day illness. According to a physician, an autopsy performed Tuesday night attributed the death to cerebral edema, an acute swelling of the brain caused by virus infections of the central nervous system. A fourth grade student at Coquillard Elementary School, he was a member of the school’s Cub Scout Troop 443 and the Ardmore Lions Little League baseball team.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1956 in South Bend. Surviving besides his parents are a sister, Gail Marie, and a twin brother, Terry, both at home.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the hickey Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Jacobs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
