SOUTH BEND - Muerle Lorraine Satkowski, 82, passed away on
Sunday, October 12, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center
surrounded by her family who loved her so very much. Muerle was
born on November 19, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Harry and
Ruth Taylor. She graduated form Central High School and
attended Hanover College. On May 23, 1946, she married Ira James Campbell,
who preceded her in death on September 8, 1977. She enjoyed books
(especially historical novels), her book club, knitting, going to
the casinos, a great card game, watching the Cubs, Purdue, IU and
Notre Dame play. Her favorite time of the year was Fall, and her
enthusiasm for the holidays was unsurpassed. Muerle was a legal
secretary for over 50 years, most recently for Baker and Daniels.
She loved her work and her co-workers loved her. They even named
their break room "Muerle's Lounge" in her honor.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn and
Robert (Mac) McKenna from Ludington, MI, Diana and Danny Stephenson
from South Bend, IN; her son, James "Jimmy" and Carol
Campbell from Granger, IN; five grandchildren, Blake McKenna,
Dianne Scott, Jason Scheuer, Jessica Bellamy
and Angela Cormican; and seven great-grandchildren. Muerle
remarried March 28, 1981, to Stanley Satkowski, who preceded her
in death. She was a devoted and loving mother and the last to
acknowledge she was doing something special for someone. Mom will
be missed by those lives she touched and leaves us with memories
of her countless gifts of love.
Her family will receive family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road.
