SOUTH BEND - Joyce Eva Sass, 67, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, who resided on West Willow Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away following an extended illness at 7:45 a.m. on Thurs-day, March 5, in Memorial Hospital. On July 8, 1930, in South Bend, she was born to the union of John and Ida Rae.

She was united in wedlock to Robert Sass on March 20, 1948, in South Bend. Joyce passed away just two weeks prior to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband Robert; two daughters, Sandra Sass of Mishawaka, Ind., and Susan Ann (William) Bucholtz of South Bend; a son, Robert Scott (Connie) Sass of Niles, Mich.; along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Kagel; and by a brother, James Rae.

Mrs. Sass was an active member of Calvary Temple Church where she served on the nursing home ministries, caregiver and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Calvary Temple. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
