Mathilda J. ''Til'' Sappenfield, 83,
residing on Lake Trail, Lakeville, Ind., passed away at 5:30 a.m.
on Tuesday, May 26, in her home. She retired from bookkeeping in
1973, from Associates Investment Company. Born on June 14, 1914,
in South Bend, Ind., to the late John and Helen (Neder)
Varga, she had lived in this community all of her life.
On Aug. 11, 1973, in South Bend, as Mathilda
Vaszari, she married Orel ''Vance'' Sappenfield. He passed
away in 1986. She is survived by a daughter, Therese M. Fansler
of Lakeville; two sons, Robert E. Vaszari of Lakeville and G.R.
''Skip'' Vaszari of Spring Grove, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Annette
E. Kesling of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward L. Varga of South Bend;
and by a brother-in-law, James Stoens of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in St.
Matthew Cathedral, South Bend. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South
Bend, where a parish Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Mrs.
Sappenfield was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral and the Holy
Rosary Society of the church. Memorial contributions may be given
to the church.
