SOUTH BEND - Services for Lucien A.
Santerre, 69, of 1629 E. Ewing Ave., who died Tuesday
afternoon in his home of natural causes, will be at 1 p.m.
Saturday in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. Friday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, where
a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. by Knights of Columbus Santa
Maria Council 553. Memorial contributions may be made to the
church.
Mr. Santerre retired in 1989 from the
University of Notre Dame as a sound engineer at the Joyce
Athletic & Convocation Center. He was born March 2, 1924, in
Fall River, Mass.
On Aug. 26, 1950, in South Bend, he married
Ruth E. Hannon. She survives, with five daughters, Terri McDowell
of Cincinnati, Colleen DiPiro of Elkhart, Pauline Beutel
of South Bend, Jan Tenneriello of Brooking, S.D., and
DeeDee Sudarshan of Baton Rouge, La.; six sons, Robert of
Cincinnati, Tom of Adrian, Mich., Bernie of Aurora, Ill., Paul of
Albuquerque, N.M., Donald of Elkhart and Rick of Indianapolis; 25
grandchildren; seven sisters, Irene Desruieaux of Port
Charlotte, Fla., Beatrice LaMontagne of Lincoln, R.I.,
Blanche Bacon of Southbridge, Mass., Terry Sevigny
of Swansea, Mass., Betty Squillace of Fall River and
Pauline Berube and Jackie Chase, both of South
Swansea, Mass.; and four brothers, Roland of Ellenton, Fla., Rene
of St. Petersburg, Fla., Gerald of New Brunswick, N.J., and
Raymond of Tucson, Ariz.
He was past grand knight of 3rd Degree and
past faithful navigator 4th Degree, both of Knights of Columbus
Santa Maria Council 553, and past president of USS Farenhold
Association. He was a member of the parish council and
eucharistic minister of St. Matthew Cathedral, where he was a
past choir member and commentator. He was a veteran of World War
II.
