Loving mother, Mercedes M. Santa, 70, of Eclipse Place, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Santa was born on Dec. 18, 1929, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

In August 1953, as Mercedes Kolczynski, she married William J. Santa in Michigan City, Ind. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Farling, who died on Feb. 16, 1995. She is survived by four daughters, Paulette Richardson of North Liberty, Ind., Patti Kobalski and Roxanne Cohan, both of South Bend, and Mary Thomas of Niles, Mich.; four sons, Ronald Santa, Kenneth Santa, William Santa, Jr., all of South Bend, and Paul Santa of New Carlisle, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandsons; and by a sister, Evelyn Hatala of New Carlisle.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Entombment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may call from one hour prior to services on Saturday.
