Louise G. (Gardner) Sando, 83, of
Ewing Avenue, formerly of River Park, died Wednesday morning,
Feb. 27, in Hospice House. Louise was born May 14, 1918, in
Gallipolis, Ohio, to Sylvan and Caroline (Handley) Gardner,
who preceded her in death. She had lived in South Bend, Ind.,
since 1946 after coming from Jackson, Mich. On July, 23, 1938, in
Kentucky, she married Amos L. Sando, who died Dec. 7, 1993. She
is survived by a daughter, Violet Nace of South Bend; a
son, Nelson H. Sando of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren, 11
great- grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; two
sisters, Avalon Roush of Gallipolis and Jane Lanier
of Berea, Ky.; and by a brother, Sylvan H. Gardner of Gallipolis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, 289-1000. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends called on Thursday. Louise was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, past president of the John F. Nuner School PTA, and was a Camp Fire leader.
