MISHAWAKA - Edward F. Salyer, 86, passed away on Sunday, August 17 in Sprenger Healthcare of Mishawaka. Edward was born on November 11, 1927, in Mishawaka to Seldon and Grace (Hale) Salyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eileen, Mary and Betty; brothers, Charles, Mike, William and Jerry; and a grandson, Ryan Murphy. On November 5, 1949 he married Patsy Jo Heeter who preceded him in death in July 1984. He then, on September 10, 1988, married Winifred Needham; she preceded him in death on June 7, 2014. Surviving are a daughter, Jill (Mark) Murphy of Hamilton, OH; sons, Craig (Candi) Salyer of Mishawaka and Mark (Jeanna) Salyer of Bristol, IN; five grandchildren, Katy (James) Horning, Laura Salyer, Amanda (Pieter) Narrogon, Eric Salyer, and Ashly (Brent) Conley; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Navarro, Jaci, Taryn and Myles Narragon, Abigail Horning, Kendall Conley, Emma Conley and Jonah Salyer; sisters, Joe Ann Armold of IN, Carole (Norbert) Cudnowski of MI and Sally (Bill) Bethea of FL, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Salyer of Mishawaka. Edward was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka where he was a member of the Choir and Missions. A member of Beiger Trust, Ed was also involved with the City Planning Committee and Kiwanis. Edward was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Supervisor in Production Control for Dodge Manufacturing for 23 years before retiring in 1982. Funeral services are on Wednesday, August 20 at 2 p.m., with visitation two hours prior in First United Methodist, Mishawaka, with Pastor Carolyn Kern officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
