Manuel
Sadural, 80, of Berkley Place, South Bend, Ind. died following a lengthy illness
at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in his residence.
Mr.
Sadural was born Oct. 23, 1921, in South Bend, and was a lifetime
resident.
On
April 28, 1946, in South Bend, he married Irene KALAFAT, who survives. He is
also survived by a daughter, Marie (David) BALOGH of South Bend; two sons,
Joseph (Sandra) Sadural of Bremen, Ind. and James (Cheril) Sadural of Granger,
Ind.; seven grandchildren, Michael and Thomas (Sarah) Balough, Jennifer (Carl)
STEINKE, Stephanie (Tysen) ADAMS and Kelly, Adrienne and Alex Sadural; a
great-granddaughter, Ariana Steinke; a sister, Concha QUIROZ of East Chicago,
Ind.; and by a brother, Joseph Sadural of South Bend.
Mr.
Sadural retired from the South Bend Police Department in 1968 after 23 years. He
was the first Hispanic officer on the department. He had also worked
security for The Associates Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran with
the 91st Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron, serving in North Africa, Italy and
Sicily. He was also awarded the Silver Star. He was a member of FOP
Lodge 36, VFW Post 8748, and the YWCA.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 14, in the Welsheimer Funeral
Home 521 N. William Street, with Rev. James Rigert, C.S.C., officiating.
Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 13, in the funeral
home.
