Sister Mary Fides CSC, 80, a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at Saint Mary’s Convent at St. Mary’s, and a former music instructor in the college, died in the convent infirmary Sunday morning. She was born Dec. 5, 1868 in Waterford, Ireland, and entered the convent as Johanna Ryan. She was the last of three sisters who became nuns in the community at St. Mary’s

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at St. Mary’s, and burial will be in the community Cemetery on the campus.
