Jean-Luc Robert Rutherford, 14, of
the U.S. Embassy, Yaounde, Cameroon, Africa, died Saturday, March
2, after injuries from a school trip accident in Cameroon.
Jean-Luc was born Jan. 29, 1988, in Fort Rucker, Ala., to Scott
and Ann (Hendrick) Rutherford, who survive of Cameroon. He
is also survived by a sister, Theresa Kateri Rutherford; a
brother, Dominick Vincent Rutherford; paternal grandparents,
Robert and Joyce Rutherford of Louisville, Ky.; maternal
grandparents, Larry and Ann Hendrick of Springfield, Ill.;
paternal aunts and uncles, Marilyn and David Nash of
Richmond, Ky., Alex and Jennifer Rutherford of Louisville, Ky.,
and Peggy and Jason Glasgow of Lakeland, Tenn.; maternal
uncle, Tom and Molly Hendrick of Bronxville, N.Y.; paternal
great-grandmother, Margaret Rutherford of Hamilton, Mont., and
maternal great-grandmother, Catherine Burns of Mt.
Sterling, Ill.; paternal cousins, Martin, Julia, Jordan and
Robert, and maternal cousins, Jared, Kevin and Shannon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
9:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart
on the University of Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Ind. Burial
will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery on campus. Friends may call
from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131
Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN, 574/289-1000. Memorials may be

Yaounde, Cameroon, Africa; or to the Jean-Luc Rutherford Memorial
