Nettie Russell

Mrs. Nettie Russell, 90, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin who resided on Hamlin Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:05 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of natural causes. Nettie, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Sylvia Atwaters, had resided in South Bend most of her adult life. Nettie received her education in South Bend and retired from the Northern Indiana Children's Hospital in 1979. Nettie was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church and at one time was a member of the choir. Mrs. Russell's memory will be cherished by her loving family of a son, Herbert M. (Mary) Russell of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; two daughters, Vendetta M. (Gary) Hendrix and Alnetta L. White, both of South Bend; three grandchildren, Christopher J. (Tonia) Levy of Baer, Del., and Rondelle (Thimayya) Johnson and Ashley M. Hendrix, both of South Bend; five great-grandchildren, Deshawn, Devoute, Taylor, Carlo and Amber; a niece, Sylvia Jones of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two cousins as close as sisters, Garnet Pegues and Juanita Douglas, both of South Bend; along with a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
