SOUTH BEND - Ruth A. Rupert, 71, of Calhoun Street, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in her home of an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Rupert retired from Rand Delivery Service as a secretary after 27 years of service. She was born June 6, 1923, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 18, 1942, in South Bend, as Ruth A. Szymanski, she married Charles A. Rupert Sr. He survives with a daughter, Cynthia A. Wincek of Louisville, Ky.; a son, Charles A. Jr. of South Bend; four grandchildren; a sister, Alice Martinczak of South Bend; and a brother, Richard Szymanski of South Bend.

She was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 6 p.m.
