Charles A. Rupchock, 77, of Russ
Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 7 p.m.
on Monday, Nov. 20, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.
Charles was born on March 18, 1923, in Watertown, N.Y., as the
son of the late Josef and Julia (Ellis) Rupchock.
On May 14, 1949, in South Bend, he married
the former Gizella Krizmanich, who preceded him in death
on Sept. 28, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his
son-in-law, John Dettmer. He is survived by three daughters,
Elizabeth Ann Dettmer of South Bend, Theresa Marie (Jim) DeVos
of Angola, Ind., and Patricia Ann Rupchock of Osceola, Ind.;
three grandchildren, Marie, Christopher and Michael DeVos, all of
Angola; a sister-in-law, Martha Rupchock of Granger, Ind.; and by
numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was a tool and die maker for
Studebaker and also Bendix, retiring in 1983. During World War II
he worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, N.M. He enjoyed
camping and took his family on camping vacations, visiting all of
the western states, western Canada, and some eastern United
States. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend.
Friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. today,
Nov. 22, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka,
where a Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 22, in St. Matthew
Cathedral, with Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, officiating. Burial
will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Contributions in
