24, 1950 - Dec. 2, 2009SOUTH BEND - Edward L. Runyan, 59, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Edward was born July 24, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Edward J. Runyan and Kathleen (Mace) Runyan of South Bend, Indiana. He retired in January of 2008, from the Honeywell Corporation. Edward married Mary Beth (Gann) on March 23, 2001. Surviving with his wife, Mary Beth are his sons, Lee Runyan of South Bend, IN, Larry Runyan of Niles, MI; step-children, Michelle (Jason) Christlieb of Plymouth, IN, Rachel Shull of South Bend, Crystal (David) Kitchel, Brian (Kim) Lowry of Bartow, FL; step-grandchildren, Joseph Lowry, Douglas Christlieb, Julia Gribbs, Hedi Kitchel; a brother, David (Linda) Runyan of North Liberty, IN; a niece, Nicole Runyan; a nephew, David Lindsey Runyan; and his mother-in-law, Lenora Gann of Argos, IN. His father-in-law, Bernard Gann preceded him in death. Edward was a Marine Corps Veteran and a member of the American Legion-Bendix Post 284. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1969. Funeral service for Edward will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where friends may visit from 12 noon until 2 p.m.
