SOUTH
BEND - Robert E. Rumpf, 66, of South Bend, Ind., died following
an illness at 2:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at St. Joseph
Community Hospital of Mishawaka, Ind.
Mr.
Rumpf was the co-founder with his wife Mary Louise of the Country
Bake Shop in South Bend.
He
was born on Aug. 26, 1930, in Mishawaka, to Robert E. and Miriam
(Goebel) Rumpf, who both preceded him in death. He was also
preceded in death by a brother, Donald Rumpf.
On
Dec. 1, 1973, in South Bend, he married Mary Louise Garges, who
survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Deborah K. (Glendyn)
Easterday of Lakeville, Ind.; a son, Craig A. (Martha) Rumpf of
Niles, Mich.; four step-daughters, Deborah and Mary K. Garges,
and Cynthia (Jerry) Wilson, all of South Bend, and Rebecca
(Robert) Iatarola of Nashville, Ind.; a stepson, James R. Garges
of Kettering, Ohio; nine grandchildren, including Craig Rumpf,
Jr., Emily Rumpf, Angela Easterday and Glen Robert Easterday; two
sisters, Carol Rumpf of Denver, Colo., and Barbara Drews of Los
Angeles, Calif.; and by three brothers, David Rumpf of Osceola,
Ind., Charles K. Rumpf of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and John Rumpf
of Mississaugua, Ont.
Mr.
Rumpf was a member of the New Apostolic Church of South Bend, and
was a deacon there for over 40 years. He had been director of the
church choir most recently.
Memorial
services will be held at 11 a.m. (Michigan Time) today in the New
Apostolic Church in Buchanan, Mich., with District Evangelist
Marvin Bell officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation
will take place.
A
memorial thank-you offering may be made in Mr. Rumpf's memory to
the New Apostolic Church Rebuilding Fund, c/o Priest, George
