SOUTH BEND - James H. Rucker Sr., 64, of 2818 Lincoln Way W., died at 4:20 p.m. Friday in his home. Dr. M.J. O'Connell, deputy coroner, ruled the death a suicide. Mr. Rucker was a retired construction worker. He was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Hennings, Tenn., and lived in South Bend for 40 years, coming from Tennessee.

In 1953, in Tennessee, he married Lizzie Mae McPherson. She survives, with six daughters, Linda Rucker, Jayne Williams, Rose Rucker, Betty Williams, Judy Rucker, and Lisa Rucker, all of South Bend; a son, James H. Jr. of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; and five brothers, Amos of Atlanta, Lawrence of Milwaukee, Givan and Romie, both of Halls, Tenn., and John of Arkansas. He was a member of Spiritual Israel Church and Laborers International Union of North America Local 645.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
