James E. Rowings

James E. Rowings, 78, of Palomino
Circle, Apt. 1B, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness
at 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, in St. Joseph Community
Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind. Mr. Rowings was born on May 7, 1920, in
Parke County, Ind., as the son of the late Archie and Nancy (Morlan)
Rowings. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Miller;
and by two brothers, Kenneth Rowings and Robert D. Rowings. On
July 5, 1942, in Rockville, Ind., Mr. Rowings married the former
Naomi Spencer. Mr. Rowings is survived by Naomi, his wife
of 56 years. He is also survived by their daughter, Margaret
(John) Deutsch of Rushville, Ind.; a son, James (LaDona)
Rowings, Jr., of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren, Hillary
Rowings, Adam Rowings and Britta Rowings, all of Ames; and by two
brothers, Howard E. Rowings of Kingman, Ind., and Donald S.
Rowings of Rickville, Ind. Mr. Rowings was employed by the former
Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka for 43 years as a steel worker
before retiring in 1984. He was a World War II veteran of the
United States Army, and was a member of V.F.W. Post #1167 in
South Bend.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, April 6, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Friends may also call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, in the Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, Terre Haute, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
