RICHMOND, IND - Adella Edna Rothermel, 85, who resided at 2001 U.S. 27 South, died following a long illness on Friday, April 2, at the Golden Rule Nursing Center.
She was born in Williamsburg on March 12, 1914, to Frank A. and Ethel Moorman Williams, and had resided in Wayne County for her first 21 years, in South Bend for 44 years, in Three Rivers, Mich., for 15 years, and in Richmond for the past five years.
She was a 1932 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She enjoyed art and did commissions in oils and watercolors. She served as president of the Women's Association of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, served as fundraiser, chairperson and teacher for the Carnegie Center for the Arts in Three Rivers, Mich., served as president of the School Men's Wives Club in South Bend, and as president of the Psi Iota Si Sorority, South Bend Chapter.
She is survived by her husband, Russell W. Rothermel of Fountain City, Ind., who she married on Sept. 28, 1935; a daughter, Gaynelle R. Winograd of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Terry William Rothermel of Concord, Mass., and Dennis Wayne Rothermel of Chico, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
There will be no public funeral service or visitation. Following cremation, at a future date and at the discretion of the family, there will be a private memorial service for the immediate family.
