Beecher Lowell Rothenberger, 79, of
North Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 9:07 a.m. on
Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Cardinal Health and Rehabilitation
Center, South Bend, Ind.
Beecher was born on Feb. 19, 1921, in
Clinton County, Ind., to the late Perry and Bessie (Holsclaw)
Rothenberger. Beecher was also preceded in death by a sister,
Aldean Hays; and by a brother, Charles Rothenberger.
Beecher is survived by two sons, William (Noriko) Rothenberger
and Charles (Michiko) Rothenberger, both of Tokyo, Japan; a
sister-in- law, Margaret Miller of Mishawaka; a nephew,
Robert Rothenberger of Valparaiso, Ind.; a niece, Sharron (Lew) Dailey
of South Bend; and by several other nieces and nephews. Beecher
was employed by Bendix Home Appliance. He was a veteran of World
War II in the Army, 4th Division. Beecher saw action during D-
Day and the Battle of Hurtgen Forest. After his tour in the army
he served as a civil servant for the government in Japan, and
later at Wright Patterson Air Base in Dayton, Ohio. Upon his
retirement he lived in Hawaii for 16 years before moving to
Elkhart, Ind., in 1988, and then to Mishawaka in 1999. Beecher
was respected and well-loved by his family and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home, with Dr. Gregory Timmons of the First Christian Church, Mishawaka, officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Military rites will be held at the mausoleum chapel by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, Mishawaka. At the family's request, memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
