Esther G. Ross

Esther G. Ross, 79, of Pinnelas Park, Fla., formerly of Locust Road, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, in her residence. Mrs. Ross had been employed by the former Briteway Sales. Esther was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and was a lifetime member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was born on March 6, 1921, in South Bend, Ind., to Aloysius (Alexander) and Victoria Putz.

On Dec. 31, 1938, in South Bend. as Esther Putz. she married John J. Ross, who died on Dec. 21, 1977. Esther was also preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Alfred Putz. Surviving are five daughters, Arleen (Ted) Fujawa of North Liberty, Ind., Juanita (Richard) Rittenhouse and Joy (Mark) DeLaurelle, both of Mishawaka, Ind., Barbara (Bruce) Katawicz of Hudson, Fla., and Diane Bajwa of Stroudsburg, Pa.; two sons, Thomas (Diane) Ross of South Bend and Patrick (Sherrie) of Pinnelas Park; a stepson, John (Wanda) Ross Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Angela Parson of South Bend; and by a brother, Victor Putz of Mishawaka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 300 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33770.
