Donald Richard Rose, 84, of Darlene Court, Granger, Ind., passed
away at 3:58 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Hospice House of St.
Joseph County.
Donald was born on Dec. 26, 1918, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late
Charles and Edyth (Steffey) Rose. On Nov. 11, 1944, in Pensacola,
Fla., he married Elsie Mae Archer, who passed away Jan. 22, 1994.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Thurl
Rose.
Donald is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Jim) Dunn of South
Bend, Ind., and Donna (Beehler) Elia-Keiser of Granger; six
grandchildren, Dujanna Nickerson, Elizabeth Snyder, Shannon
Sinders, George Elia, Steve A. Dunn and Ann Marie Cwik; 11
great-grandchildren, Sheena Nickerson, K.C. Nickerson, Hailey
Nickerson, John Sinders, Megan Snyder, Ean Nickerson, Ambrianna
Cwik, Alexander Cwik, Carley Dunn, Heather Wynn and Stefen Wynn;
and by two brothers, Charles "Jim" Rose of Okeechobee,
Fla., and William Rose of West Virginia.
Mr. Rose graduated from Cornell University. Donald proudly served
his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, becoming a
member of the Power Squadron. He was also a member of the former
Portage Lodge #675 F.&A.M.,
a current member of the St. Joseph Lodge #45 F.&A.M., Ancient
Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, where he achieved
his 33rd Degree, American Legion Post 303, River Park, and Elk's
Lodge #2349 of Apache Junction, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in
Hilltop Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 4114 South Ironwood
Road, South Bend. Pastor John Holten will officiate. The family
will receive friends one hour after the services in the church on
Saturday.

The Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South
Bend, is handling arrangements
