SOUTH BEND - Mischelle (Sue) Root, 52, of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, in her residence with her loving family at her side. Sue gave a courageous battle with cancer. She never complained, only gave a good fight. She was born on September 3, 1957, in LaPorte, IN, and had resided in the Michigan area her lifetime. On July 25, 1991, in Walkerton, IN, she married George E. Root, who survives. Also surviving are her parents, Norvan L. and Jean L. (Buckmaster) Collings of North Liberty; a son, Shawn A. Correll of South Bend; three sisters, Lynn M. (Jim) Ennis of Steven City, VA, Tami R. (Frank) Ennis and Julie A. (Dale) Downey, both of Walkerton, IN; two brothers, Mark A. Collings and John K. Collings, both of South Bend. Also her two loving grandsons whom she loved and cherished. Several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and several cousins survive. Sue was an avid Cubs baseball fan, loved being with her grandsons and traveling with her loving husband. At the time she became ill, she was employed by Raco Corporation in South Bend. The family request, PLEASE, in lieu of flowers, make all memorial contributions to the American Lung Association of Indiana, 115 W. Washington Street, Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, in HANLEY & SONS "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, in the funeral home. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Root family.
