Robert G. Roose, 78, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away Friday, Aug. 30, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital. Mr. Roose was born in 1924 in Warsaw, Ind. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was discharged in 1946.
On July 30, 1949, he married Irene Scheffler in Mishawaka. Mr. Roose retired from Dodge Manufacturing in 1982 after 35 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a member at the Osceola Church of the Brethren. He was an avid fisherman and Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene; two daughters, Toby (Larry) Moore of Mishawaka and Cathy Maddox of Arizona; and a son, Robert E. (Karen) Roose of Mishawaka; five grandsons, Matthew, Marc and Andrew Mroczek, Jason and Kevin Roose; one granddaughter, Amanda Holdeman; one great-grandson, Cody; 11 step-grandchildren, Adrienne (Bill) Slates, Kim, Erica, Adam, William and Krisytn Egendoerfer, Melanie (Mark) Osborne, John (Tammy) Moore, Chantelle (Steve) Casey, Melissa (Troy) Rozwarski and Courtney (Randy) Usenick; and by 18 step- great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be in the Bubb Funeral Chapel on Monday, Sept. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Osceola Church of the Brethren at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. Burial is to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
