Rose M. Rodino, 84, of South Bend, died on Friday, June 17, 2005, in Memorial Hospital. She had been a lifelong resident of South Bend, was residing in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center and formerly lived in Karl King Apartments.
Rose was born Feb. 26, 1921, to the late Louis and Mary (Tirotta) Rodino. Preceding her in death were three sisters, Julia Kambol, Catherine Agostino Palatin and Lena Perry; and a brother, Frank Rodino.
Surviving sisters include Theresa (Frank) Manijak, Josephine Brekrus and Betty (John) Marroni, all of South Bend. Surviving brothers include Rocco Rodino of Kokomo and Louis Rodino of Lakeville. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews, along with her best friend, Nancy Stankiewicz, and special friend, Donald Sobieralski.
Rose had worked hard most of her life. She had been employed as an inspector at Smoler Brothers from which she retired in 1975. Later she worked as a dietary aide at Memorial Hospital and retired from there in 1985.
Rose was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Bend. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching movies and soap operas, and was a collector of many knick-knacks. She loved family gatherings, and will be remembered as a loving sister and aunt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend.
Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the HICKEY Funeral Homes, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a Rosary will be said at 3 p.m.
At her request any memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Parish.
