NEW CARLISLE - Mildred E. Rodgers, 87, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, formerly of Tennessee Road, died at 8:50 p.m. Thursday in the nursing home. Mrs. Rodgers was born Dec. 14, 1907, in New Carlisle.

On Dec. 14, 1927, in New Carlisle, as Mildred E. Swank, she married Carr V. Rodgers. He died May 28, 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Kovatch of South Bend; a son, James of New Carlisle; a grandchild; and a sister, Elthea Sobecki of Michigan City. A grandson preceded her in death. She was a member of Olive Chapel Church, New Carlisle Home Demonstration Club, KNITWITS, War Mothers of World War II, was past matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 320, past officer of New Carlisle Farm Bureau and St. Joseph County Farm Bureau.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St.
