SOUTH BEND - William Dean Robinson, 69, residing in South
Bend, passed away peacefully at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, August 21,
2008, at Sunset House, Mishawaka, surrounded by his loving
family. He was born January 5, 1939, in LaPorte, to William and
Margaret (Norris) Robinson and grew up in the Mill Creek
area. He received his bachelor's and master's degree in education
from Ball State University. He began his teaching career at
Nappanee High School where he also served as basketball coach for
two years. He then taught and served as head basketball coach at
LaVille High School. In 1964 he and Helen moved to South Bend
where he was employed with the South Bend Community School
Corporation, teaching math and serving as department head at
LaSalle High School. He also taught at Indiana University of
South Bend for 37 years as well. He retired in 2001. Bill was a
wonderful, loving and giving husband, father and grandfather. He
loved the Lord, and was always an outstanding example of Christ's
love to everyone.
On March 4, 1959, in Calvary Temple, South
Bend, he was united in marriage to Helen F. Clark. They
have enjoyed more than 49 years together. Two daughters, Kathy Campoli
and her husband, Rick, and Lynn Stratford and her husband,
Jeff, all of South Bend, also survive him. Also surviving are
eight grandchildren, Brittany, Julia, and Olivia Campoli, Landon,
Sydney, Riley, Jessica and Joshua Stratford; and his brother,
James (Bonnie) Robinson of LaPorte. Mr. Robinson was a member of
Maple Grove United Methodist Church. He and Helen were former
members of Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church in North Liberty. The
family would like to thank Melinda and Gary of Sunset House
(Personal Care Home) for the wonderful care given to Bill during
his illness.
Services celebrating the life of William Robinson will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25th, in Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 22019 New Road, South Bend. Rev. Michael Jenkins, pastor, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 24th, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, and from 10 a.m. until services time on Monday in the church.
