Verna C. Rininger, 81, of 503 W.
Maple St., North Liberty, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Sunday June
3, 2001 at Pilgrim Manor in Plymouth, Ind., after an extended
illness. She was a retired switchboard operator at Memorial
Hospital in South Bend after working there 18 years. She was born
in Beloit, Wis., Aug. 23, 1919 and lived here most of her life.
She was married in South Bend, Aug. 20, 1937 to Richard B.
Rininger, he survived along with a daughter, Holly C. Compton
of Granger, 4 sons Richard D. and Clay of South Bend, Keith of
Davenport, Fla., and Kent of North Liberty. Also surviving are 2
sister Doris Hughes of Houston, Texas, Elaine Watkins
of Plymouth, Ind., 2 brothers, Alden Fritz of North
Liberty, Rolland Fritz of Key Largo, Fla., 16 grandchildren, and
19 great grandchildren. A son Douglas and sister Irma Crockrel
preceded her in death.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the A.M. Manuel Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow.
