SOUTH BEND - Mabel "Mickey" Righter, 86, of
South Bend, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2008, in her
home. She was born on January 4, 1922, in Winamac, IN, to the
late Erle and Fay (Miller) Vanscoyk. On February 2,
1940, in Plymouth, IN, she married Richard Righter, who preceded
her in death on March 27, 1974. Along with her parents and
husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Richard
"Jack" Righter. Mickey is survived by her two
daughters, Barbara Conrad of Elkhart, IN, and Beverly
(Richard) Ridenour of South Bend; seven grandchildren,
Michelle Scott of Logansport, IN, John (Teri)
"Rick" Righter of Lucerne, IN, Michael (Becky) Righter
of Kewanna, IN, Juli (Ben) Kruszynski of Elkhart, Richard
"Jeff" Ridenour of Buffalo, NY, Jennifer (Todd) Kendall
of Greenwood, IN, and Rebecca (Ryan) Scanton of Mansfield,
TX; seven great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and two
step-great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Vonda Fisher
of Winamac. She is also survived by two special friends, Mary Kay
Borton and Graham Hammill. Mickey owned Hollywood
Beauty Shop and had been employed by the BMV and Voters
Registration. She retired from work in 1984 after over 40 years
of service.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Winamac. Kaniewski Funeral Homes, South Bend, is handling the arrangements.
