Mrs. William (Mary) Riggs

November 9, 1901 – August 26, 1982

Mrs. Mary Frances Riggs, 80, of 18429 Vaness, died at 4:02pm Thursday in Healthwin Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born on November 9, 1901, in Nelson Co KY, and lived in South Bend since coming from Kentucky in 1949.  On February 1 1927, in Marion Co KY, she married William L. Riggs.  He survives with four daughters, Mrs. Lillian Foster of Louisville KY, Mrs. Louise Warner of South Bend, Mrs. Margret Brittain of Mishawaka and Mrs. Barbara Long of Granger; five sons, Leon, Philip, Joe and Marvin, all of South Bend, and Morris of Granger; 34 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Roxey Manningly of Phoenix, Mrs. Beatrice Burby and Mrs. Gladys Manningly, both of Nelson County and Mrs Izolla Forester of Jefferson Co KY, and three brothers, Manuel and Archie Downs, both of Jefferson Co and Johnny Downs of Nelson County.

Services will be at 10am Saturday in Little Flower Catholic Church, with Rev. William Neidhart, CSC, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today in the McGann Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be recited at 7pm.
