Martha E. Riggs

Martha E. Riggs, 87, formerly of
Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 4:35 a.m. Monday, March 25, in
the Elkhart Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart, Ind. Martha was born
on June 23, 1914, in Washington, Ind., to Claude and Maude (Staver)
Bryan, who have both preceded her in death. Martha was
also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis C. Bryan.
As Martha E. Bryan, she married Robert C.
Riggs on Aug. 8, 1937, in Grand Haven, Mich. Robert passed away
on Dec. 30, 1988.
Martha retired in 1985 as a library clerk
for the Mishawaka Public Library after 10 years of service. She
was also co-owner of Riggs' Home Grocery Store for 25 years.
Martha was a Jubilee member of First Presbyterian Church,
Mishawaka. Martha is survived by two daughters, Claudia A. Riggs
in Elkhart and Nanette (Mario) Teixeira of Fort Wayne,
Ind.; and by a grandson, Clinton A. Teixeira of Fort Wayne.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.
today, March 27, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street,
Mishawaka. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on
Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, 401 Lincoln Way East
at Union Street, Mishawaka, where family and friends may also
call one hour prior to the services. Rev. Ronald P. Miller will
officiate the services, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Memorial contributions may be
made to the First Presbyterian Church, Mishawaka.
