SOUTH BEND - Bernadine A. Riggs, 84, of South Bend,
Indiana passed away at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the
Sanctuary at St. Paul's, South Bend. Mrs. Riggs was born August
28, 1923 in South Bend to the late Jerome A. and Martha Kostielney.
She has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend. On November
22, 1941 in South Bend, she married Roland A. Riggs who preceded
her in death on January 27, 2001. One brother, Maurice
Kostielney, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Riggs is survived by
three daughters, Mary Kathryn (Paul) Clark of Granger,
Janice (James) Seese of Granger and Rita (Robert) Eichstedt
of South Bend; two sons, Daniel J. (Trudy) Riggs of Granger and
David B. (Kathy) Riggs of Granger; fourteen grandchildren, Kevin
(Karen) Riggs of Portage, MI, Michael (Stacy) Riggs of Arlington
Heights, IL, Gary (Kristen) Riggs of Granger, Tracy (Christopher)
Weaver of Edwardsburg, Spec. 4 Brian R. Clark of
Ft. Lewis, WA, David (Becky) Clark of Mishawaka, Jeffrey
Eichstedt of South Bend, Scott Eichstedt of South Bend, Kristin
Eichstedt of Kalamazoo, MI, Kelly Seese of Granger, Erin
(Matthew) Stevens of Mishawaka, Allison (Adam) Skrzeszewski
of Mishawaka, IN, Megan Riggs of Mishawaka and Adam (Jennifer)
Riggs of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by five great
grandchildren, Joey, Abigail, Ava, Mackenzie and Liam; one
brother, Ernest (Dorothy) Kostielney of South Bend and many
nieces and nephews. Mrs. Riggs worked at Bendix Corporation and
Associates, both of South Bend. She has been a lifelong member of
St. Matthew Cathedral . Mrs. Riggs loved her family and will be
deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St., South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend where a rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Bernadine A.
